A survey about blog readers
Or, in other words, who the eff are you?
If you, my dear readers, have a few minutes to kill, and aren’t doing anything spectacularly important (well – reading Selective Amnesia IS spectacularly important…) , would you folks kindly click on the link below and answer a few dozen boringly simple questions? Just so I know the many kinds of freaks who read/not-read my blog.
Please take the SelAm Blog Reader Project survey.
Some questions (I took the survey myself) have absolutely no reference to India. But that’s okay. We can all pretend we are big-fat Americans for a few minutes a day, can’t we?
Now, I am not sure how answering this survey will help you. But it will help me. So, now, go on and click that link and answer the questions.
Thank you.
Why do I still blog?
Why, because I can get comments like this one, of course. In my hours of gloom and despair, I just have to read Ashok, and others of his ilk, and the world is once more a bright place.
Ashok, replying to my post about an alternative to Flickr, says:
Oh, shut up. Whiner.Point #2 is bullshit. I receive my flickr comments in indiatimes just fine.
As for the rest… The fact that Flickr is still the most used photo sharing site says it all. Censorship is important after a while. I remember my younger brother accidentally stumbling onto a BDSM pic on Flickr that shocked him out of his skull. Now I don’t know how this is acceptable to you, but it sure as hell not acceptable to millions out there.
So yeah, leave Flickr. Go put your “safe” pictures in pBase or anywhere else and see how long they’ll tolerate it.
Besides, if your pictures are safe… what the hell is your problem? And if they aren’t, do the world a favor and quit flickr.
Thank you, dear Ashok. I have learnt my lesson, and have eaten the humble pie. I shall no more whine.
SelAm gives you head…
...er. Header options.
Like every other blogger, I too have decided to change the header image every few days, depending on how job-less and stupid I am. So, here are the images that I will choose from, for now.
Except for option 1 (which came along with my template) every other photo was shot by me. Rejoice and marvel at my photographic skill. And if you need any of these images, take them. I’d of course appreciate it if you could let me know you are doing that. Just for curiosity’s sake, you know.

Repeat, repeated
This post was originally written over 2 years ago. I consider it one of my best pieces of writing. Ever. Looking at it today, it still is relevant and true. Except for the site redesigning part, everything else is the same.
Open road not often this free bike heaving pulling at the leash impatient to go thoughts fly faster tangents and unconnected multiple streams of ideas and fears and expectations and words merging and splitting away to merge back again site needs redesigning a trip cancelled another didn’t materialise need reading up on sanga literature need to fuel up there’s one around the bend haven’t come up with a decent headline in ages portfolio needs tweaking damn that car was close thank god good brakes what do I hear big crash somebody’s hurt bad must be bleeding crazy hey the sky’s a nice shade of magenta
Got. To. Write. Something.
Three posts currently in draft mode:
1) Why Goundamani and Senthil are geniuses – or the long, boring post on humour
2) More on the Wedding Futures market, answering questions – or the SelAm attempt at going intellectual
3) Theatre of Dionysus – or a post on Greek and Tamil satire.
Meanwhile, subscribe to the Chennai Metblogs. The scene’s going to hot up there, during May.
1409 people read Selective Amnesia!
I did say I will write about Goundamani and Senthil next, but this just came in. Fucking unbelievable. SelAm has 1409 subscribers? Fuck! Unbelievable.
All right, even assuming that only 10% of Rojo’s hits are genuine subscriptions, that’s a lot of subscribers (214) for this measly little blog. This changes a lot of things. A lot!
Perhaps, world domination is not far off.
My next post…
...will be on Goundamani, Senthil and their genius at comedy.
Meanwhile, I sincerely request you to read this post.
