Selective Amnesia There was a point to this. But I forgot.

Single in Bristol

Two weeks into my new life in Bristol, I experienced my first culture shock.
No. It is not that PDA is common. And no. White women in blue eyeshadow, green lipstick and no eyebrows isn’t the cause of aforementioned culture shock. No. Those are pedestrian issues with which my superior and cosmopolitan brain had come to peace years ago.
What caused a sudden pang of homesickness, a delayed realisation that I was in a land that hasn’t become familiar yet, is the absolute lack of PSBB students in Bristol.
Seriously.
We are legion. We ought to be everywhere. And familiar faces are expected and secret handshakes and passwords exchanged. While I did not anticipate a reception committee of former juniors I’d educated in the ways of the library and RSP, I was surprised that no one had established links of communication even after 15 days of my arrival.
I was, I must be honest, surprised. But in very mild terms. No doubt my fanboys were busy with their lives and will soon apologise to me in person. Epiphany then struck. The reason there was no reception committee, was there were no flunkeys. No PSBBians whatsoever in Bristol.
The government should look into this matter with utmost haste. I demand a high-powered executive committee to submit its report soon.

Um…hello?

Let us assume I’ve made a sufficiently self-effacing remark about my (non) life and my absence. Let’s further assume that I am sufficiently surprised that all my readers haven’t vanished into the ether. Let’s also assume that I had/have readers.

If you have been living under a rock for the last 6 months (or not on twitter…same difference, I suppose.) the news is that I have decided to take a break from advertising, working long hours and such things, to study. I am currently in Bristol. Which is in the west of England. I am a Post-Graduate student at the University of Bristol’s famed Archaeology-Anthropology department. I am studying for an M.A in Archaeology for the Screen Media.

News and observations and stuff about Bristol will soon follow. This time, ennui, lethargy and blogstipation shall be overcome.
