The Public Transport reading.

Hello all.
The last serious poetry readings in Madras was part of the Madras Week events that Sharanya organised. It’s been 4 months since. Long time, no? We think so too. Which is why, we are suitably humbly and proudly happy to present the December Public Transport reading. Or, as Sharanya puts it, Open Mic on Wheels

Idea is simple. We all (by all I mean at least 10 serious poetry enthu-pattanis) assemble at an MRTS station, buy tickets as applicable, wait for the train to come. While we are waiting for train to come, we all read/perform pieces we like. When train comes, we board it in an orderly and efficient manner, and once boarded, continue with the reading. Once we reach journey’s end, we climb out, buy tickets for return journey and then repeat the process.
Sounds interesting? We think so and, we hope, so do you.

So, here are the details.

When: Sunday, 7th December, 8.30am

Where: Meeting point at Mylapore train station. Journey is Mylapore-Beach station-Mylapore.

Who: You and your poems/short prose on the theme below.

What: Public Transportation. (See Sharanya’s post for explanation)

RSVP on comment or email. See you all there?

Neha – Madras bloggers are showing off too much. How about we organise a bakerloo line reading session?

WA: Sure, why not? Pliss to make sure you send me tickets so I can come and join too

  10. Susheel Chandradhas Says:

Trains are so noisy… Why not get on a plane?

I’d bring camera, except that business is keeping me busy. Besides, last time I brought camera on train, I nearly got arrested!

... but C is there to keep us safe… He’ll argue with the policemen until they decide to pick up a camera themselves…

    :)

    Have fun, guys!
