I am always in awe of Kamal’s voice in the soundtracks he sang in. I am not sure if he is voice trained, but he carries it off very well.

He was trained by Bala Murali Krishna, if I remember correctly. It was for a very brief period of time though. The song from Singaravelan and this one from Hey Ram are high-pitched ones. He carried it off really well. But then, he is what he is now only because he is able to do all this and more.
