Malaysian Tourism

What a super ad! Loved it.
From husband to friend in 8 days, it says. And superb execution. Congratulations, Tourism Malaysia and agency (Beehive?)

P.S: Will post YouTube vid when I find it.
Disclaimer/Travel advisory: I have it on the authority of a good friend that, while the ad may be very good, Malaysia IRL is not. Let me quote “ad = good. actually travelling to msia = dont do it, idiot.”

Beehive website is great. But under Malaysian Tourism, I found only poster ads. No videos. What video ad are you talking about?

    Sharanya: Hmm

Sanjeev: I think the ad is pretty new. Just saw it on Vijay – possibly first few instances. Will post it as soon as I can find a video of it online

Having actually been to Malaysia a few times I have to disagree with your friend. It is actually a very pleasant and fun place to visit. Much better developed than Thailand in terms of infrastructure. And parts of it are mind numbingly beautiful.

    Ah! Hmm
Said friend lived there for a long time. So perhaps.

I do like the place, from what I see of it. And, this ad really, really does loads of good.

Living there. I think your friend has hit on something. I would not dram of living there. Especially as an Indian/Tamil. The government’s policies on the Tamil minority is awful. I was talking solely about visiting.

    AH, yes.

The thing is this—it is not that Malaysia is a crappy place to visit. It has good (not great – public transport is a pain) infrastructure, shopping and so on. But it confounds me how people from India, particularly South Indians, can be willing to go there as tourists when they are so absolutely vile in their racist attitudes (both in a government and social sense). It isn’t about political responsibility or other such grand ideas. It is simply this: if you know that your friend has a nice house but her parents hate you and would take pleasure in treating you like shit, would you still visit?
