Going social. Getting creepy
So, flickr just went more social. It now lets you import address books from Y!, Gmail or Hotmail accounts and add people you think you know. In other news, I signed up to FriendFeed and Spokeo last week, after chatting with a bunch of people. And am amazed at the number of people I’ve had email conversations with and who have picasa/flickr/youtube accounts and the stuff they put there. I felt not unlike a stalker chasing victims down. Now with Twitter, Flickr, FFeed, Spokeo, Facebook, Orkut, LinkedIn and a few dozen other things tagged on to my gmail id, I doubt I’ll ever get a moment away from people’s monitors and keyboards.
Also in other news, I think I might have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. My fingers have been numb for 10 something days now, with a little prickly thing every few hours at the tips. I have not been typing much, more so after I fell from a bike (I was not riding. I was minding my business in the back seat) and I expect the blog silence will continue for a few more days.

You ‘think’ you might have CTS? Your fingers have been numb for ten days and you didn’t consult a doc???

Afraid he might either confirm my fears or ‘pooh-pooh’ them.

Wear a wristband when you type. Remember to stretch after about half an hour at the keyboard. Try turning your computer off once in a while. Go see a doctor. Sheesh! (I did all that and see where I ended up, so maybe don’t bother)

Gawd you fell down! Get a laptop it makes carpel tunnel easier to bear (with a sorty keyboard cover). Take care and go to a DOC!

Rads: Um, well, er, uh…no. I am busy. Not pretend busy.
Divya: Got me a laptop. As for sorty keyboard cover, I’ve asked around Hopefully, I’ll get one.

I have had CTS for years and manage it as follows:
1) I have found that a small laptop is happier for my small hands than a big one.
2) I do much better sitting on the floor with my laptop than at a desk in a chair. Odd but true.
3) When the pain starts, on goes the hand braces (both sides).
4) Wear the hand braces to bed. I have found that I seem to be sleeping on my hands wrong at night & it makes the whole thing worse. If I wear the braces at night, the CTS flare up usually goes a way in a day or two.
5) Take arnica to reduce the swelling when flare ups occur.
6) Avoid any doctor talking about surgery like the plague.
;o)

Even i had severe pain on the finger tips last years. After much hesitation went to Apollo Hospitals Chennai. Doc did all the tests (knocking with a tiny hammer, running a small poked wheel etc) to check if my fingers had sensation. Finally he says I need to take a shock test to make sure everything is fine. Needless to say, I ran away!
A Sidha doc later said the pain was due to iron deficiency. Changing the keyboard also may help.
