Selective Amnesia There was a point to this. But I forgot.

The fifth Chennai Photowalk

Is on. It will be held on the 16th of March, 2008.
The route’s been unanimously decided by a committee comprising me and all my alter egos.

We will walk down Egmore’s Pantheon Road. But we’ll first finish some unfinished business. The Third Photowalk was supposed to cover the three major railway stations in Madras, the Royapuram, the Central and the Egmore. We couldn’t do it for want of time and energy. Therefore, this, the fifth will begin where the third was supposed to end.

At Egmore Railway station – a beautiful, fascinating station that was originally the Madras terminal of the South India Railway, headquartered at Trichy.

From Egmore station, we’ll walk south, across Commissioner’s office road, and into Pantheon Road. And that’s where the beauty starts. Buildings, in classical Indo-Saracenic, classical Victorian architecture, and to ward away evil eyes, a building in classical PWD/Govt.Of India architecture that forms the Museum campus. The recently restored Connemara library is a treat, if we can get the gatekeepers to let us take our camera in.

We will also cover the historically insignificant, shopping-ly significant Prince and Fountain plazas and end the day at the Bridge over the river Kwai Cooum.

So, then, that’s the walk. The other details: Time: 8 AM. Date: Sunday 16th March 2008.

  1. “decided by a committee comprising me and all my alter egos”, “and to ward away evil eyes, a building in classical PWD/Govt.Of India architecture that forms the Museum campus”.

LOL. You crack me up with seemingly unintentional humor. :)

  2. Unintentional? Oh, come on! I spent three hours writing up those words, carefully weighing each other, and against each other to pick the ones with the most JQs.

I’m sulking. And pissed off. No more posts for, um, 2 hours.

  3. Well; I was not sure of that actually. That’s why I used the term ‘seemingly unintentional’. Anyway, it’s really nice to know that someone takes my comments seriously. I couldn’t be happier. :)

  4. Quick q:

How long (distance/time) is this walk? Do you think kids might get something out of it?

    M

  5. Meera: The total distance this time is about 2.5 kilometres.
And oh, the kids will definitely get something out of it. Kicks, especially.
    C

  6. Kicks?
    Which type?

BTW where and what time are we meeting?

  7. Hi chandra

great. committee of internal souls is a necessary evil for the creatively disposed. looking forward to the fifth and my first photo walk.

  8. Great job chandru… It was nice to meet you all… Hope I make it regular… :)

  9. Sorry couldnt catch you in the end. Great job C. Next time we shall have a complete mob

  10. I am glad to have been a part of the walk, thank you chandra choodan. I wish to see the pictures on the blog, as you know cam’s battery ran down. Ciao

  11. Hey Guys!

I’m so darn pissed that I couldnt make it… Unfortunately, I had an un-foreseen accident (photoshoot) which I needed to attend as the photographs refused to just “get on with it”...

In the end, the photoshoot got cancelled, but Formula 1 Racing a the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne made a great substitute…

Note to Chandrachoodan: No photowalks on race-day, please… If times overlap, or possibly overlap, that is…

Chandru, could you please do a follow-up post on the photoshoot, with links to the photographers’ pictures? I’m sure everyone has flickr accounts… Would Love to see.
