The Fourth Chennai Photowalk

It’s February now. And that only means one thing. No, not Valentine’s day. But the Chennai Photowalk #4 day. This month’s walk is going to be special for me. And hopefully, for you too.

The walk this month will begin at the once-famed-for-its-coaches-now-famed-for-its-ArtDeco Simpson’s building and proceed down Mount Road, taking in the Hindu, the Daily[1] Mail, the P.Orr and Sons, the old D. Angeli’s building (currently Bata showroom) cross the road and finish at Bharat Insurance building. This will be on the 10th of February, 2008, at 8 AM.

This is the plan for now. It should be interesting, if only for the different styles of architecture. And for the fact that we might be chased and hounded by policemen and stray dogs. And stray passers-by even.

(past walks: #1, #2, #3)

If you are interested in joining us on the walk, leave a comment. I want a mob this time.

[1] Chenthil is right. The now-defunct, once famous newspaper that had its offices next to the current Hindu office is The Mail, earlier called Madras Mail. I was thinking Superman (and Daily Planet) and Mail, and had unfortunately put two and two together to come up with zero (not Zero). I am sorry!

And now, to rouse the others.

  3. Susheel Chandradhas Says:

    hey there…

Just to give you all a shout out that I’ll be there. Hope you know where to get a decent breakfast on the way. I’ll be hungry … for food and photographs ;)

    See y’all there.

    Cheers!

  4. Krishnan Says:

Why would stray dogs and policemen chase you, that too in the morning? Both of them prey only in the dark, right? Or was there an allegory that went over my head?

  5. Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan Says:

Susheel: Breakfast shouldn’t be a problem. A coupl of good places on the route.

Krishnan: Stray dogs prey in the night. Stray policemen pray in the night for good preys in the morning. I’ve always been hounded by policemen on my walks.

  6. Tushar Says:

    >>I’ve always been hounded by policemen on my walks.

  10. Chenthil nathan Says:

    Dear Sir,

While the idea is noble, I would like to point out a glaring error. The news paper office next to the Hindu is “The Mail”, previously part of “Madras Mail”, but never in its history was it called “The Daily Mail”. It pains a long time ardent reader of this blog to see this error.

  11. Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan Says:

    Mihir: Yay!

Chenthil: You’re right. I am wrong. Updates and corrections and Erratas provided.

  12. Pandiyan Says:

I should be able to make it this time.

  13. Bharat "Bratboy" Balasubramanian Says:

CC Dear… I am joining in too… This is the area where we have some lens market too… so i would say… end up with the lens market ;-)

  16. Tushar Says:
