Violation thy name Usman Road
“Violation thy name Usman Road”
Just happened to read this news article on the Hindu and was wondering whether anyone has got the balls to take action against these Textile giants. One thing for sure, unless something major happens no one is going to wake up and take action.
Assuming a fire breaks out at Pothys that too during a peak time like Diwali when thousands are shopping, the amount of devastation that would be caused is unimaginable. With the kind of traffic that is seen on Usman Road/ Doraiswamy Road forget the jumbo sized fire engines, not even a single ambulance can squeeze in for aid.
The Hindu has dilegently provided the figures as regards the action taken by the CMDA, but is anyone taking note of this?
And not to talk about car/ vehicle parking. From my experience staying in Delhi, I realised that every Mall, every Multiplex, every shopping centre (like Palika) have an underground parking/ other parking lots. This would atleast ensure that vehicles are not parked on the roads, thereby facilitating smooth movement of vehicles.
Hope something is done before something really bad happens.

Forget parking dude, there is no easy way to escape if a fire broke out. With all those clothes in there it gets scary if you happen to get a wee bit paranoid. Did you notice the width of the staircases inside? God forbid, a stampede is waiting to happen!
