Why dumb people shouldn’t be incharge of marketing your services.

Deepanjali is either the most penetratingly intelligent person ever on earth, or the dumbest. Because this is my blog and I get to air any opinion I want, and because I am in the mood to be caustic, I will go with the latter opinion. Deepanjali is supremely dumb. And she is (apparently) in-charge of promoting the blog aggregator thingummy called Blog Adda.

How? She leaves the following comment on my previous post:

Good post for discussion.Really very gud insight on spirtuality, I came across some good blogs on blogadda.com. Check out this link www.blogadda.com. Bye…..Take care

Read it well? Spir(i)tuality? Just in case you, like Deepanjali, didn’t read the previous post, it is a YouTube video of Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Laurie parodying William Shakespeare.

Deepanjali, besides being penetratingly and perceptively intelligent, is also persevering. She leaves not one, but 4 comments. All as as relevant as the one I’ve block-quote-d. Just in case I might think of her as a quitter, she hunts out my (now in disuse) travel blog NH45, and leaves the same comment there.

It must be extremely difficult to be this original and diligent. Which is why, I think, she makes big money. Why, she might even top our old friend Karthik Kannan at this game.

I get these kinds too. What annoys me is not the spamming so much as the spelling.

What crime did “O” commit to be left out of good?

    Hi Chandra,

Being an SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) I know what she is really up to. She, being an SEO, is trying to get back links for her website so that her search engine rankings improve.

Believe me, there are whole departments devoted to building back links that are at this moment visiting blogs such as yours and leaving stupid comments like the one above.

Don’t like it? Delete it, with it goes their back link, no gain for their pain. Simple!

    :)

    John

@John: Yeah. I know what they do. I was going to delete the comments, but the spirituality thing was funny. So let it stay.

Ive marked all of blogadda’s comments as spam, so that Akismet moves it to the list that contains, among other things, 15,000 references to Jessica Alba and other parts of her anatomy and German shipping companies offering me jobs to mediate goods-transfers from Shanghai to Berlin.
I wonder if I should get nasty and submit known spam blogs to their directory?

  5. Null Pointer » BlogAdda or Spammers Adda? Says:

[...] The new so-called blog platform (though I prefer to call them Blog Leechers since they are resorting to all sort of gimmicks to just get footage, such as showing your blog under frame pages, showing your feed content as their own and so on) BlogAdda has surely gained attention but not due to its content or any novel features (it has got none, anyways, Instablogs should have taught them lessons) but because of their staff let loose on a spamming spree. The BlogAdda people have been adamantly spamming all sort of blogs in English as well Hindi Blogosphere, the intention is probably not so much to promote their product but as an SEO noted at Chandroo’s blog, to gain undeserved Google rank. First, it was the notorious Deepanjali, who even created a fake Marathi blog to pose as a fellow blogger and left poetic Hindi comments on almost all gullible blogs and now some Kiran has taken over. To pose as bloggers these guys have created fake Blogger accounts so they don’t have to comment anonymously, since many, if not most, Blogger.com users don’t allow anonymous comments. Tired of their spamming on all my sites, in September 2007, I had written to BlogAdda through their website that they should stop this gimmick, “I have noticed that you guys are on a spamming spree off late leaving unsolicited comments on various Hindi blogposts including mine. I wish to assure you that such gimmicks would only bring you bloggers who publish porn and trash. Please do not underestimate the intelligence of bloggers. Leeches have a very limited lifetime.” I wrote. To which one Raghuvir from BlogAdda replied apologizing and saying, “…the intention was to inform bloggers about the site where they can register their blogs. We could have adopted an anonymous route while doing this, but we did not want to SPAM, rather inform. And if someone has not being doing the job correctly, we will take care of it.”. The way they took care of this, it seems, is to appoint more mindless agents to spam the whole Indiblogdom until they decide to shun them completely. [...]

They also have a fictitious profile on orkut – hot babe trying to get guys to join. Very sad. This site should be banned or boycotted by all bloggers. BlogAdda should know that the Indian blogging community is not comprised of fools who will take spam lying down, especially when it originates at our own doorstep.
