Macchi;
I am not sure that equating these two songs is correct. For one, the situations seems to be different.
But then again, this is an apples vs oranges comparisons.
While Raja is, well, “Raja”, Rahman is probably the only guy who tried hard to match him
I am not sure of the intention of this juxtaposition. The song by IR is a melody and the one from ARR is unique in its own way.
One thing I observed generally in IRs music is that he rarely ventures to the higher notes, while ARR delves in the higher notes in most of his songs.
IR is a genius but limited to Tamil audiences mostly. ARR’s music was so compelling that non-Tamil audiences demanded his sound..so he is ubiquitous all over india…and internationally to some extent.
Because Maestro is.
The point that Chandrachoodan forgot is the full stop. Though a non-Tamil, I listen to Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Punjabi & English songs. Maestro reigns.
And the Baton stops here.
Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan is a copywriter, photographer and goofball from Chennai. He is also an archaeologist, historian and a city lover. He is currently a documentary film-maker and desk-monkey for a film production house.

I wish both of them a long healthy life.
