3 effing years

In true blogging spirit and keeping up the tradition of navel gazing (among other parts of the anatomy), let me inform you that Selective Amnesia, that last resort of insanity and punny headlines, is now 3 years old.

I began SelectiveAmnesia.blog-city on the 28th of August, 2003.
Other, more famous bloggers who began during August are
Ravikiran – August 14, 2002(I think)
Charu – August 27, 2003 (Just a day before I did)
Congratulations, the two of you.

As I was saying, the 3 years since then has been, well, eventful. I got to be the top blogger for a while, Blogstreet listed me as the 4th most Influential blogger, 5th most popular, and then (perhaps afraid of me) pushed me to 25. I thought I pulled the plug on this blog, I came back 4 months later, more sure about blogging than I was before the plug-pulling stunt. And stuff like that.

But, 2003 wasn’t when I started blogging. Oh No! I had this stupid, badly written web-pages on Tripod. Sometime during 2002, Tripod offered this whole new thing called Blog. Though I didn’t know what the fuck it meant, I gave it a whirl. I read up on the word, learnt about Robot Wisdom, read a little about Dave Winer and RSS, started following Indian Blogs. That’s where I made the first mistake.

Sometime in 2003, I stumbled upon FilterCoffee, Mahesh Shantaram’s blog. From there, I came to Jivha, Kingsley, and Yazad. That’s when I made the second mistake. I wanted to go mainstream. And since Kingsley was the only Tam guy who I read back then, I followed his example. I set up my own blog on Blog-City. (That’s right! My reason for choosing a blogging service was so shallow, I am proud of myself)
Commentors came and went. Chenthil didn’t. Neither did Anand, Sat and a few other commentors.

Damn, got too mushy there. So I shall stop. Anyway, you do know the rest of the story by now, don’t you?

P.S. Links. I forgot. So? Also, apparently, commentor is spelt commenter. So says Chenthil. Ha! What does he know?
