Sankrithi

aNTi Anantha writes about a Google video that features the word Tamil in it. It also features everything related to tamil – Tamil movies, tamil cuisine, MIA (who has taken over the souls of our friends in Sepia Mutiny) and here’s the best part – Tamil Matrimony.

So there’s this little dude in Tamil Matrimony called Ashok (vastly well read, yes) who’s looking for a little love and lots of marriage.
What is really interesting to me is that the guy lists his Gothram (ancient {and dying} way of writing up your family tree) as Sankrithi. Dude, we are cousins man. So as one cousin to another, here’s wishing you find what you look for. But please, please…do get out and see the world and find what you’re looking for heh?

Rather inadequate a translation

Chenthil has posted a translation of Bhaarathi’s Manadhil urudhi Vendum – a very simple, relatively sarcasm free (by Bhaarathi’s standards) poem. Reading his translation started me off on my own version. Rather inadequate, yes. Still a start.

I seek it all
I seek a resolute mind
and words refined

I ask for it all
I ask for Memories sweet
and things I covet for in my clasp
I ask that dreams realise
and quicker comes things within my grasp

I ask for plenty
I ask for riches and joy
And I demand glory.

I ask that ignorance be dispelled
and clear vision be found.
I seek determination in work
and the liberation of women-folk

I want it all
I want that my creator be protective
I want that this land be productive

I search for it all
I search for that vision of heaven
and I search for the triumph
Of Truth.

ஓம் ஓம் ஓம் ஓம்.

Manadhil urudhi Vendum features in a very good compilation of Bhaarathi’s poetry.

Stuff to be proud of.

When I quit blogging and came back before the ink even dried on that post, I told myself I won’t be obsessed about searches for Silk Smitha landing on my blog.
So, it was with great pride that I learn I am the #1 Indian Photographer blogger. Damn proud I say, specially considering, my photography skill level is on par with the quantity of facts in an IIPM ad – scarce.

Talking of IIPM - look who’s topping their entrance test?

Which leads me to speculate, why isn’t IIPM getting itself heard in the reservation debate? Are they pro or anti reservation? Why isn’t friend AC saying anything on TV? But let’s leave him alone now and talk of my stand. I am not sure, but google thinks I am Pro reservation – I have no idea why.

I thought hard about connecting the previous search result to this one, but no clever little play of words would make themselves known to me. So here you go, an unconnected little paragraph. I am the best Chennai blog in the whole world.

‘What’s all this got to do?’ you ask. Why, nothing. Just simple advertising. After all, I am the most popular Advertising blog-ger from India and more specifically the best copywriter blogger in India.

There are more, but I shall stop here and gloat over this.

So, this bong colleague of mine got married to a bong film-maker. They asked me to do their wedding-invite. I gave them a film-poster like invite, titled…
