Aarthy is an amazing photographer. A cult goddess to many of us on Flickr. Here’s a photograph that she took, and one that I wish I had taken, but more importantly, one that I will never be able to take if I tried a million times.

Check Aarthy’s photostream out or drop by her blog.

Thought Bubble Series #1

Been chewing on this for over a week now. Everybody talks of redistribution of wealth, redistribution of riches.
What, my question is, will it achieve? You make one set of people poorer and another set richer. And then you’ll have to start all over again. A vicious cycle if any.
So here’s a thought. Redistribute governance. – take away the power that one small set of people have to govern the larger set and distribute it to everybody. In essence, bring down the effing government. Capitalist Anarchy is the way ahead.

The Chennai Metroblog

Yo folks! It gives me immense (and this is not a loose word I bandy around) pleasure to announce that Chennai is now a Metro city.

Yes folks. Chennai, namma Madras, is the second Indian city to go Metro. Welcome, and with drum rolls and applauses and fanfare – The Chennai Metroblog

So, what is Metroblogging? Here’s the Metroblogging team with the answer

With almost 40 active sites, Metroblogging is the largest and fastest growing network of city-specific blogs on the Web. From San Francisco to Bangkok, from Karachi to Toronto, Metblogs are a hyper-local look at what’s going on in the city. Our hand-picked core of regional bloggers give each site a new perspective on daily life; less calendar listings, more friendly advice. With Metblogs, you can read about life and times in your neighborhood, your favorite places to visit, places where you’ve never been, or get a feel for them all with the daily “best of” blog on the hub at metroblogging.com.

There’s also a Wikipedia article on Metroblogging with a lot of info.

So, there you have it. Chennai is the 44th City. Here’s the news

03.24.06 :: #44 : Chennai

Continuing our theme of cities that have been recently renamed, we’re happy to introduce Chennai which used to be called Madras. Wikipedia says that Chennai is called “the Detroit of South Asia” because of the auto industry focus there, but we’re happy to call it the 44th Metroblogging city. It’s also our second metblog in India – stop by and check it out.

So yeah! Stop by and check us out.
Us in this case, to begin with, are

  • Nancy Gandhi

  • Lavanya

  • Keerthivasan

  • Vatsan

  • Kiruba

  • Kaps

  • Moi

We are hoping more bloggers from Chennai sign on and get the buzz happening. Do drop by, with your comments and feedback. Much appreciation will come.
