Thanks you all, for the care and concern.
Death is not something new to me, or my family. But no matter how experienced we are in it, each new one brings with it fresh stabs of pain and worry. Especially one as as tragic and unnecessary as this.
My family, like most tamil-brahman family are extremely religious, and such times, their faith is sorely tested. This is where being atheist as I am comes of help. I have a much smaller distance to scale in accepting that if a god does exist, he/she wouldn’t be so cruel as to ordain such a ghastly execution.

you know C, I have seen it is usually the other way round – in times of great trauma, people tend to turn towards god for solace – almost like when nothing else can help, and there are no answers…

Highway roads have spelt death to many. The cause is rash driving and drunken driving…certainly not God.
My condolences to ur cousin’s family.

Your feeling are clearly expressed…I feel it is nothing to do wid God…I don’t bother whether God exists or not….

This is where out vedic culture comes to out aid.It clearly expresses these things (Why bad things happen to good people?)
Unfortunately we tamil brahmins don’t try to understand the real meaning just doing things as ritual. This is where the concept of Karma comes. How does it affect and other details are given in Bhagavad Gita As it is.
Sorry for looking preachy.I just wanted to share something i learnt by going through these things. Please go with open mind and read the things then the whole perspective of life changes.
Hope it helps somebody.
