Blind logic
I was witness to a little drama yesterday, which, if it hadn’t ended a little dangerously, might have been really funny.
On the way from work yesterday, was this guy on an old Bajaj scooter. Madras is famous, as most people will know, for its potholes. There’s even a joke in which a man asks another man “where does this pothole lead to?”
Anyways, coming back to the story, which I swear is absolutely true, our man on the Bajaj scooter had the misfortune to fall into a particularly large pothole. This particular pothole was in the center of the road. After he recovers from the bad jar, he immediately swerves left, cutting me off, in an attempt to give other, future potholes a miss. I don’t know why, but I think his logic must have been something like “There’s one bad big pothole in the center of the road, so there must be more, right in the center”. And therefore, he swerves, as mentioned above.
Immediately after which, he falls into one more. And this one bigger than the previous. This particular one was so bad, he almost fell off his scooter.
The point of this particularly tedious post – logic will always get you into deeper potholes. Especially blind logic.
