Final Design

Alrighty then, let’s see some action on this blog. Been damn, damn busy, and swamped under work and all that. Plus, am trying to stay as far away from the net as possible for this week and the next.

But just a quick word to let you know about the recent changes at Selective Amnesia.

The main page has been restructured in a way to (i think) make it easier to read and navigate. The latest entry is right on top, and runs to the entire width of the section. This should, hopefully, make it easier for you folks to read it without too many scrolls.

The rest of the entries have been taken off the main page, and in their place, links that take you to the particular page, where you can read, comment, agree, disagree or call me dumb.

Thirdly, the sidebar and the blogroll has been shortened, so the page isn’t to long and cumbersome to use. The blogroll, links and archives have been moved to a seperate page, to enable you and me to access it easily.

More changes, in terms of navigation and use are on the way. Do send me your feedback, especially regarding the current structure and style of the front page.

Definitely easier on the eyes, this. :-)

    Have a cracking Diwali, CC!

  2. divya Says:

Kinda agree with madman :-) Though I get irritated with ur “continue reading this entry” links…coz its not so huge that you have to separate them into two different links! Too many labels and stuff crowding the front page.

Why are u stripping madman’s urls after moderation? Isnt moderation enuf?

  3. Chakra Says:

CCG, I wd say that your earlier design was okay.. this one isn’t.

  4. MadMan Says:

Oh goodness me, now you’re turning into content that surrounds a bunch of Google ads.

I hate to say this, but this is a regression from bad to worse. I think your original design had a decent layout. The header graphic on this just screams, “I just learnt some Photoshop stuff”.

Look here or here for some design inspiration if you want.

    where’s the blog
all i see are ads, licences and credits
i liked the older one better

  6. Jax Says:

I agree with MadMan on the design. I thought you were having some problems with CSS float problems. Then I read about the first entry being a full width. If this is going to be the final design, it cannot hold a candle to your earlier one.

And another observation from the Adsense veteran: they work better when they merge with content (Style-sync)... Just copy your stylesheet colors to your adsense. Enna maamu JWT la irundhukunu kandavan kitta graphics tuition vaayinkira? ;-) Kandukaadha!

  9. Lame Says:

simple design now. but why did you bother with it so much?? I use Bloglines to read your blog and never come to the site itself. I’d expect more and more people to make use of feeds.

  10. Krish Says:

    Happy Deepavali….

  11. sat Says:

Probably you could have creted tabs (like in erstwhile Hotmail), where each page would refer to a particular piece.

Pretty good, for not having any time….

  12. Selva Says:

The first page needs more “action”. At the moment it looks ..er..sparse. The google ad in a duller color (say a shade of gray) would be good.

  13. Whirlwings Says:

All this is fine, but when do you plan to start putting in more content out here??

  14. Nilu Says:

    one word : sucks.

i agtree that the ‘read more’ thing is not neeeded and reduces usability. i liked the banner. a banner in a blog reflects one’s self.

This is clearly a case of Designing Under Influence.
