Back to basics
Alright alright. Changing the template back to what it was originally. First changes in the structure happening. Will bring back ye olde banner design soon. Deleted it from my site, and need to re-do it, export it and upload it and all that.
The IndiBlogges are here
Well, the much awaited IndiBloggies awards are back this year. And apparently, with a whole lot of changes. For one, the way a blog gets nominated is itself different. 12 good men and women will decide the best blogs from India, nominate them and get the ceremony underway. Sounds fun. Check them out.
The Bharateeya Blog Melas
Since the first re-incarnated Bharateeya Blog Mela happened here on Selective Amnesia, I kind of take extreme pride in the fact that it is growing popular by the day, and that more and more people are taking part in it, and are nominating some brilliant writing for the melas.
What is even heartening to me is that I finally get to read some great Hindi blogs. I only knew Nuktachini, run by Debasish. Now, especially the last two-three blog melas, there are more and more hindi blogs getting nominated, and it can only be good. Except, I think it’s time somebody started looking at Tamil Blogs too. There are close to 40 tamil blogs and each of them are brilliant in ways never before. But why aren’t they getting nominated too?
Alright then. The latest installment of the Blog Mela is on over at Patrix’ Nerve Endings Firing Away. Check it out. And the next mela will be hosted by the Red Devil a.k.a The Maverick a.k.a Anil Gorti, at Another Blog in the wall. Send in the nominations, and make sure we send in some Tamil ones too. Desikann sir, are you listening? Dubukku?
The Scian Melt 3
Welcome, welcome. For the third installment of the Scientific Indian Melt. The Scian Melt, as it is known to select bunch of fanatics is an attempt to popularise and bring to mainstream blogging, Science. In particular, science and India.
Starting off as a simple thought at the Scian Wiki, the melt has travelled far and wide, first at the Scian Blog, then at Rathodics and has now come here, before going on to it’s next port of call.
Alright then, history’s over. Over to the melt.
Rounding up
Ours is a world of rectangles and squares and rhombuses and other quadrilaterals. Of boxes and boxes and more boxes. We live in small or large boxes, sit at small rectangles to study, look at boxes all day, walk out and drive around in other small boxes. We are a race of boxes. So much so that it almost seems like we want to discredit and disown our most original invention ever – the wheel. The circular wheel.
A wheel, circular in shape, came along and changed our very lives. We stopped being uncivilised animals and began to put down roots and become the people we are because of that one big invention. Since then, the one invention that really, drastically changed our lives was the air-plane. Not rectangular or boxed, but torpedo shaped. The next best is of course the light-bulb. Which again was more circular. Is it just a coincidence? Or is there a hint in all of these? Do we need to look at non box shapes for inventions that will change our lives?
Many things
Firstly, am moving agencies. (Yup, again). Didn’t seem to be able to fit into the JWT system, and not very happy. And apparently, the feeling was mutual. So am off. Don’t call me anymore at JWT.
Am not sure why I put that up, but accepting the fact I failed has more than made me feel lighter now. Hopefully, (as I always believe) greatness is in store for me, and I will soon find it.
I know not a lot of you are happy with this current design, and it might suck big time, but just hang on, and give it a shot for a couple of more days. Maybe, you will, in time, come to appreciate it.
)
Nominate, and NOMINATE soon, for the 3rd Scian Melt.
