RSSified Interview
On Sunday last, Kribs, Narayan, Vinesh and myself were interviewed by The Hindu on blogs and blogging.
The entire interview, which lasted about 2 hours, with all of us reeling off quotes by the dozen has been condensed and shrunk to less than half a page of news. The Hindu must have discovered RSS technology long before us bloggers did.
Another strange phenomenon is that of the missing/disappearing photographs. I vaguely remember flashbulbs going off in my face, and a photographer dude who hung about for the first half hour of the interview. Except, there aren’t any photographs. Oh well. Such is life.
Go read the Interview

Prashant, I was planning to point him to quite a few other blogs, and I wanted to make a mention of Wikis. I particularly wanted to point of The Scian, but last minutes stuff happened, i was late to work and somehow forgot.
Thanks BTW

Its only HINDU that talks about blogs quite frequently. References to blogs and blog software comes from Netspeak column. First time, though, an article on bloggers in Chennai…Cool to see Ravages and Kribs names out there on – can you imagine? – Page 3 of Hindu…thats as good as Front Page…great going guys…Frankly, i took to blogging only after seeing Netspeak columns, and been trying to regular after seeing the enthu from bloggers like you and lazygeek!
Hightime, common media – esp print – starts acknowledging the new type of journalism in the name of blogs…and truly exploit the power of internet, to have proper reports rather than such common 3 clomunar articles on Lalu Prasad Yadav’s pilgrimage…there is so much in this world to write about, and blogs cover quite a bit of them…

Hello Guru!
Thanks! I agree, it is time newspapers realise the power and potential of blogs. Wish all of us can drive the change

Anna..periya allaytinga..
BTW, the hindu article on blogging was so condensed that it looked like it was all written in a hurry. Karthik should have done it better(and wth? no reference to Lazygeek – he is very much in chennai!).
September 22nd, 2004 at 12:17 pm
Yeah I know. And he had three days to write it up. I am so not happy with the way it came out.
Lazygeek is in chennai, but on the day of the interview, he had been in Velankanni or something, so couldnt call him. I didn’t know where to reach you too…
Otherwise, I would have brought the entire city down to the interview.
Anyway, i atleast get some publicity and my dad is now happy that I blog.

Lol! You go read the thing Queer!
September 23rd, 2004 at 10:26 am
Man, you have arrived. Page 3 person and all that
but I think the piece was quite poorly written. Very blogging-for-idiots kind of tone…. but good show, you guys!
(ahem, note email id)
September 23rd, 2004 at 10:33 am
ahem!
Yeah! I was pretty disappointed with the way the piece was written. No flow, and very idiot proof, and he brought the google ads bit in
front, instead of in the end.
Plus, no photographs! Anyway, thanks

Way to go
Now work on getting those journos up-to-the-blog ! They just dont get it yet.
September 23rd, 2004 at 11:35 am
Thanks!
>>>Now work on getting those journos up-to-the-blog !>>> Meaning?
Most newspapers still don’t realise the power of blogs. I wanted to go and talk to the Hindu management and convince them to make their online version a blog.
Now, with a mention in their papers, I think I can go and at-least broach the subject.
Thanks again

Hey Krish!
All that Hindu needs is to look beyond their glass windows and see how much the world is adapting to the net. Once they realise that, they might just begin to look at blogs better.
I hope they do. And I am definitely going to talk to them about this.
Let see. I might get popular after all, helping them
